The Kurkölnischer Saalhof
(Hall of the Electorate of Cologne)
was originally owned by
the Archbishopric of Cologne.
This is where the jurisdiction had its
official office. It used to be the most
important secular building in the town.
The French administration tore down the
Saalhof in 1810. Experts believe that the
components used in building the
Kurkölnischer Saalhof date back to the early
Franconian period. No picture of this building
has been found to date.
The building which has now been rebuilt
is known as the Altkölnischer Saal.
