The "Altes Haus" (old house) is one of the
best known medieval half-timbered buildings
on the Rhine.
It has been the subject of many poems and
songs by poets familiar with the Rhine, and
has also been used as a set in several films.
Robert Stolz composed an operetta
"Wenn die kleinen Veilchen blühen"
(When the Little Violets Bloom) in 1932.
The operetta was set in his local pub -
the "Altes Haus".
